Children and adolescents in Argentina present concerning anthropometric indicators, posing a challenge to health professionals to address poor dietary patterns. The aim of this work was to provide a perspective on the inclusion of yogurt in the diet of the pediatric population through a non-systematic, monographic review. The pediatric population exhibits poor diet quality and a high prevalence of malnutrition in all its forms. Yogurt and probiotic yogurt are safe, nutrient-dense foods whose incorporation may improve the dietary quality of this population while providing proven health benefits, as demonstrated in randomized, placebo-controlled efficacy studies. Depending on their composition and according to the NOVA classification, they may be considered minimally processed or processed foods and can be introduced from six months of age. It is essential to provide guidance on the selection of nutrient-dense foods to improve diet quality, which will be reflected in appropriate growth and development in the pediatric population.
